TransDigm representatives meet Douglas Peacock Scholars at Clemson University

Clemson, SC –  TransDigm President and CEO Kevin Stein, Head of Corporate Benefits Adrienne McFaye, along with representatives from TransDigm subsidiary Champion Aerospace — President Jason Marlin and HR Manager Alison Saavedra — visited the Clemson University main campus for the first time on Dec. 1, 2022, meeting with Douglas Peacock Scholarship recipients and learning more about programs the scholarships support.  Announced in March 2021 and named for TransDigm’s co-founder, the Doug Peacock Scholarships provide 150 awards over the next five years, supporting students in engineering and business at Clemson.

“Clemson University and TransDigm Group Incorporated are aligned in their commitment to develop and promote a diverse workforce for the future. Through TransDigm’s creation of the Doug Peacock Scholarship, and their investment into Clemson University, we are able to continue increasing opportunities and access for more students to receive a world-class education.” said Clemson University President, Jim Clements.  Dean Anand Gramopadhye from the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences and Dean Wendy York from the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business spoke about the areas of study the Doug Peacock scholarships support and how the scholarships help to address the financial needs of promising undergraduates from backgrounds historically underrepresented on college campuses.

A.J. Garrett, awarded a Doug Peacock Scholarship for the 2022-’23 academic year, said without the scholarship, he doesn’t know how he could’ve afforded to continue pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering and his ultimate dream of becoming an engineer. “When I got the news that I was receiving a Doug Peacock Scholarship, I was overjoyed because it kept my dream alive,” Garrett said.

Through these scholarships, TransDigm honors their co-founder’s entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen. “Clemson University is forever grateful to TransDigm for their investment in the future of our students within the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business and the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences,” said Clemson Vice President for Advancement Brian O’Rourke. “These need-based scholarships will shape the lives of the recipients, allowing them to achieve their educational goals and realize their dreams.”
